Hernández Cornet Autumn/Winter 2010
Black Void
Amidst luminescent nebulas arises the Hernández Cornet Autumn/Winter 2010
collection. Set in the far future, it draws inspiration from intergalactic fights and the
worship of Venus.
The cult of supernatural forces is pursued through luxurious garments and a repetitive
construction principle that pays homage to the V and the circle. The silhouette is long and
slim, exaggerated and extended. Coat dresses feature a pinched waist, tops are detailed with
lacings at the front and back, enhanced by V-neck shapes. Circular cuttings on sleeves and
orbit-shaped insets on dresses quote the phenomenon of black holes, subtly but
consequently adding to the collection’s time-vault dimension.
The colour palette figuratively projects the shades of the universe onto the garments’
surface. The ink black firmament dissolves into hues of midnight blue, plum and dark green.
Contrasted by crisp white and nude beige, the colours of interstellar dust clouds.
Qualities range from light silk chiffon to stretch velvet, heavy wool and viscose blends as
well as organic cotton denim. The collection also includes accessories such as fur necklaces
and floor-length chiffon veils.
